I Would Like to Be Your Barnabas
Barnabas affirmed Paul in his apostolic identity.
He defended Paul to the Apostles. Then he sought Paul out to teach new disciples springing up in the region of Antioch.
Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

I want to point you toward your Antioch
We know what Paul would do for the church. However, in the infancy of his apostleship, he needed Barnabas to give him a push in the right direction.
So don’t look down on yourself because you have doubts about your apostolic call. We’ve all been there. The call to apostleship isn’t something to trifle with. As a true apostle, you feel the weight of the call. But can you ever know without a doubt if you’re an apostle?
When I published The Apostolic Handbook in 2010 I didn’t expect what happened next. The Holy Spirit put it in the hands of prophets, pastors, evangelists and teachers who received an unusual message.
Like Moses at their burning bush, they heard God invite them on a journey with the whisper of one word, “Apostle.” and so their searching began. God put my book across their path and the calls began coming in.
“Could it be that I’m called to be an apostle? What does that mean?!”
“Can I be a prophet and an apostle?”
“What does it mean if I’m a pastor and God’s calling me to be an apostle?”
“What does an apostle do?”
Like Barnabas I had the honor of affirming their call. The Lord used me countless times to draw out their apostolic identity. They didn’t need me to stir up the gifts. They needed me to point them in the direction of Antioch.

I’ve walked in the office of apostle for 22 years. When the Lord appointed me He said, “Not everyone is ready to accept you as an apostle. Are you willing to go into such a region? Will you preach like an apostle, minister like an apostle, and leave without anyone knowing you were an apostle?” When I agreed to those terms, the Lord appointed me through the laying on of hands of my spiritual father. The doors opened to the nations overnight.
My title doesn’t define my apostleship. My foundation does.
1 Corinthians 3:9–10 (NKJV): 9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.
